A few words about myself

Avitop.com

Hello! My name is Maksim. I live in Estonia, the new member state of the European Union. First of all I'd like to confess - I'm not a helicopter designer nor a pilot :) I'm just an ordinary MSCE working for a big power company. Aviation and its history is only a hobby for me.

I started my homepage in 1997. At first it was no more than "a collection of links and a photo of the cat", as my friend said about it.
Then I decided to do something more interesting and in October 1997 the Virtual Aircraft Museum was born. But it still wasn't too serious, since there were only some photos of airplanes even without descriptions - the only handbook I had at the moment was unfortunately in German :) So the next year I decided to go further and start some kind of a scientific project when you choose a subject and then try to find as much information about it as you can. Why I chose helicopters? Evidently because not so many helicopters were built in contrast to airplanes. So, I was thinking, it would be much easier to make a good site and describe them all :)

But aviation and helicopters isn't all I take an interest in. My other hobbies are travels, photography, computers and the Internet, various maps and atlases. At the age of 7 I already knew all capitals of all countries in the world :)

Here, on my new web page, you can find some info and photos about interesting sights you may visit if you happen to be in Estonia.

You also can have a look at photos I made in 2005 during the road trip across Europe. I have never driven a car so far away from home before - we went through Latvia, Lithuania and Poland and then visited Germany, Austria, Italy and Slovenia.
