English Electric built two Wren ultra-light aircraft
powered by 398cc ABC motorcycle engines for the
Daily Mail Light Aeroplane Competition at Lympne in
October 1923. One shared prizes with an ANEC monoplane,
achieving fuel consumption of 87.5 miles/gallon.
| Patrick Cronin, cronin(@)eyewell.fsnet.co.uk, 29.07.2009 I noticed that the engine of the Wren at Old Warden had two small pipes apparently feeding exhaust gas back into the air inlets. Does anyone know what the purpose of this was? |

Do you have any comments about this aircraft ?
