Only seven were built and the first of these was given the number '74' when it arrived at the Isle of Grain and so the remaining six were all called Short Type 74. Three remained at the Isle of grain the other four went to Dundee where they and thirteen other sea planes and four air ships appeared in the 1914 Royal Fleet Review.
