The Late 290 was a naval development of the Late 28. Two prototypes were followed by 40 production aircraft built during 1933-34. Each powered by a single 650hp Hispano-Suiza 12Nbr engine, these were normally operated with twin metal floats. Armament comprised twin machine-guns in a manually operated dorsal turret and a torpedo or two 150kg bombs. Production aircraft were flown by Escadrilles 1T1 and 4T1 of the French Aeronavale.
