The four seat Courlis was powered by 190 h.p. Mathis G8R engine, and thereby lies the problem. Whilst 144 models were built, some being exported to South America, the engine gave such problems that it's certificate was cancelled so that even some aircraft were completed without engines. A more powerful 220 h.p. engine was considered but this came to nothing. Some flew on with private pilots but my the mid fifties most if not all had been grounded.
