Focke-Wulf Ta 152

The Ta 152 was a development of the Fw 190D. There was a short-span Ta 152B version and a long-span Ta 152H version. The Ta 152H was an excellent high-altitude fighter, but appeared too late, and few became operational. The Ta 152s were often used to protect jet fighter bases. 215 built.

A three view drawing - sorry, but totally mistake... fluseage is almost correct (it was called "Pencil"), but wings are totally diffrent... those wings are more like from FW-190 D-9, Ta-152 had - like most of high-altitude planes from that period of time - long and thin wings, not like on drawing. BTW Cardinal Sin - MK108 and MK151 were wery powerfull canones (every 20mm) it was enough for good fighter. And the last one - this plane was clled TA-152 from name of main designer - Kurt Tank, also fighter pilot. Some sources says that it was the fastest propeller-plane in the WW2, faster then Mustang D... but who knows:)

It was fast, indeed but lacked armament (the H versions had only one mk 108 and two mg151 /20 cannons)...

Jet fighter base protection was provided by Fw 190 Ds, not Ta 152s. The Ta 152H's performance was not limited to high altitude - it could turn with a Spitfire down low and it was very fast. Pilots called it their life insurance in those last months.
