Aerospatiale / Alenia ATR-72

The ATR 42 and ATR 72 are a family of twin-turboprop short-haul regional airliners built in France by ATR (Avions de Transport Regional). The ATR 42 seats up to 60 passengers, while the ATR 72 seats 74 passengers. Both aircraft are operated by a 2 person crew.

The ATR 42 is the initial version and was announced in 1981, having its first flight August 16, 1984. The ATR 72 is the basic ATR 42 stretched by 4.5 m (14 ft 9 in) and with modified wings. The ATR 72 was announced at the 1985 Paris Air Show and made its maiden flight on October 27, 1988. Exactly one year after that, on October 27 1989, commuter airline Kar Air of Finland became the first company to put the plane into service.

I'd like to know whether the cabin of the ATR 72 is pressurized or not? (What's the max. altitude they cruise at?)
My wife is pregnant so not sure if this aircraft is a good option to travel shortly.

Please advise.

I have flown 1 hour flights with this airplane with Olympic twice the same day. It's a bit noisy but I found it to be adequately confortable otherwise.

The plane (42) is usualy used for internal flights in Romania. Is a good plane, a little noise inside but is ok. The passengers enter and exit the back exit of the aircraft. Here we can take a maximum of 25 kg for each person. True, the confort is missing but is only one hour of flight, what we can expect?

True about seats, they are like in old bus, if you have long legs or you are considerable big in size you should expect troubles during longer flights, alt ought I guess those are used in short trips.

It might be fun to pilot but lousy as a passenger...It's VERY noisy and the seats are VERY uncomfortable. Best to book alternative arrangements with better aircraft...Lord knows we pay enough for tickets these days.
