First appearing in 1931, the S.66 prototype was a larger development of the S.55 accommodating 14 passengers and powered by three A.22R engines. Production aircraft were fitted with 522kW Fiat A.24R engines, raising accommodation to 18. S.66s entered commercial service and at least one was taken on charge by the Regia Aeronautica.
