Whilst I understand Mick Dunnes summation on the performance of this aeroplane, a lot more has to be considered rather than just power to weight ratios. The performance is not dissimilar to the DeHavilland DH98 Mosquito which was of similar size and weight and this was one of the most outstanding aircraft of WWII, so I can only summise that the Japanese had other problems other than speed.

I will NEVER believe that this little sucker couldn't do any better than 373mph! Makes no sense whatever! 3,000hp in a 6 ton airframe as clean as this??? NEVERRRRR!
I think the Japanese were very modest about performance claims for their aircraft (not being as obsessed as the Americans for wanting to be the guys with the fastest stuff in the sky!)

Do you have any comments about this aircraft ?
