| Leo Rudnicki, leo_rudnicki(@)hotmail.com, 09.11.2009 Had the F-20 been in service today, there would be a planned up-grade to F-414G which is designed to replace F-412 and F-404 without significant changes to the airframe. The planform origin is Viggen. The similarity is Typhoon. The fixed hinged foreplane and leading edge cutaway of Viggen are gone on Gripen. | | Martin, 08.11.2009 Leo, I do hope you realize the wing planforms origins from the Viggen, and not the Eurofighter. The Gripen is planned to be upgraded with a new engine (F414G). | | leo rudnicki, leo_rudnicki(@)hotmail.com, 14.04.2009 oops! They took out the 30mm Oerlikon und schlipped in the Mauser. | | leo rudnicki, leo_rudnicki(@)hotmail.com, 14.04.2009 With a powerplant arrangement from the Northrop F-20 and wing planform of Eurofighter, and the gun from the JA-37, and no more software problems, it just looks right. even if it isn't American, or maybe because it isn't. | | Jonny, 31.01.2009 You mean 4th or even 4.5th generation. 3rd generation jetfighters are aircraft like the MiG-21, F-4 or Mirage III | | Zigzaw, z(@)zig,se, 03.03.2008 Gripen was the first so called 3rd generation jetfighter operating and deployed in the world. |
