Prospective 3-seat spotter-reconnaissance aircraft intended for operation either on floats from the water or on wheels from the deck of an aircraft carrier. The Sturgeon was a far more advanced airplane than it looked. It had folding wings, and was unusual for the time due to it's all-aluminum air-frame and monocoque fuselage structure. It lost out to the Fairey IIIF because its' unfamiliar construction method was considered too complicated for military service personnel of the period to maintain.
