A further development was the Ju 46, which was a strengthened improvement of the W34 for use as a catapult mail plane on the NDL liners Bremen and Europa. Five were built, some with wheeled undercarriage, but those for catapult use had floats. In addition they were painted red for easy identification should they ditch in the sea.The last to survive was probably one which was sold to Syndicato Condor Ltda in Brazil that was registered PP-CBK and crashed at Rio das Contas on 10th June 1945.
