On careful re-examination of the photograph that I mentioned in my posting of 23.10.14, the serial number is 9001. Therefore the aircraft illustrated above in the photograph above is definitely the first PB-25E with the Royal Naval Air Service serial number 9001.

In the 2012 book "Supermarine" published by "Aeroplane" magazine, there is on page 17 a photograph of the second PB-25E with the serial number 9001. So this aircraft could possibly be serial number 2001 or 9001.

I have a photograph of an identical aircraft number 9002 It is a PB 25.

Further examination of the photograph above shows the marking "...001". One of the production batch of Pemberton-Billing PB-25E aircraft for the Royal Naval Air Service carried the serial number 2001. So it appears that this photograph shows a production PB-25E.

There was no aircraft designated PB-26. The photograph looks like a prototype PB-25E.
