Bell 222 is a very nice helicopter to look at, however, if one have to pay for its operaitons, it is a diasterous machine and that's the reason why the 222 was never sold in high number, when compare to other light twin engine helicopter such as the Bell Twin Ranger, the BO105, or the BK117.

Firstly, its engine is very expensive to overhaul and repair and also have a history of unreliability and hardly any one of these engines ever reached its TBO.

Secondly, the Nodal anti-vibration system on the Bell 222 is EXTREMELY expensive to repair or replace, and it need to be replace quite often due to the rubber parts wear off

Thirdly, since the Bell 222 is certified under single pilot IFR, its avionics system is EXTREMELY complicated and is very high cost to maintain, so cost of ownership is some thing that one can no longer bear considering that each of these goodies cost up to hundred of thousands of dollars to replace

To validate my comment, look at the used helo market price and you will see that the used smaller Bell Twin Ranger with the reliable Allison 250 engines, and modest avionics, and well proven reliability of the Bell Jet Ranger and Long Ranger qualiity, will cost MUCH more than the 222 which the expert just refuse to endorse nor buy. It cost too much to own, however, if you are a very low time user and / or restaurant owner who like to park one up front for PR, then the 222 might suit you. However, if you are going to use your helo in chartering or utility, this 222 certainly will bankrupt you quickly

Hello, you can call me jason. My door is a Chinese manufacturer of NOMEX HONYCOMB. Found in the online e-mail your contact information there, I am sorry to disturb you. The main products are the country out of military research and development. At present, Nomex honeycomb is made from Nomex paper - a form of paper based on Kevlar? rather than cellulose fibres. The initial paper honeycomb is usually dipped in a phenolic resin to produce a honeycomb core with high strength and very good fire resistance. It is widely used for lightweight interior panels for aircraft in conjunction with phenolic resins in the skins. Special grades for use in fire retardant applications (e.g. public transport interiors) can also be made which have the honeycomb cells filled with phenolic foam for added bond area and insulation. Nomex honeycomb is becoming increasingly used in high-performance non-aero-space components due to its high mechanical properties, low density and good long-term stabilityproducts are of military enterprises in domestic applications, are widely used in aviation, high-speed trains, boats manufacturer. Product descriptions can refer to the annex, which is escribed in detail. If interested in these products, we can offer very competitive price to you, hope to have the opportunity to co-operation!

Were I cant see de airwolf Bell 222b Helicopter?

Jaliya48, e-mail, 15.03.2009 15:11

The Bell 222 is a gorgeous design & the fact that Airwolf was a modified one is even better. I still prefer the Bell 222A to the Bell 222B, but that's just because of Airwolf. Nothing else looks like a flying shark!

Paul, in re of your post, I have seen firsthand the Bell Model 222 Rescue helicopter being used in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Our son was hospitalized at Children's Hospital for a near drowning accident, and while I sat by my son's side, for 12 days, I would see the Model 222's w/ retracts land and take off almost every 30 to 60 minutes. In my opinion, they are very reliable machines, and cost efficient for the job they need to do. You also may want to look into the Bell Model 430's, as they have a quat-rotor platform instead of two, and they will be quieter. Paul, regardless of what Bell has to say, I would highly recommend the Bell 222, however, the Augusta 109 is a much larger ship, which is what our son flew into Dallas on - so if it's room you want, the increased overhead will come with it. Personally, I'd go for the Model 222B with the retracts. Good luck on your decision. ~Jack Schneider

david snyder, 03.09.2007 19:27

the bell 222 has got to cost a lot for the fact of what it can do "single seat ifr" wow forget the show .it will not do hollywood stunts of air wolf ,but still can do i.f.r. in a pinch ....and look good while doing nothing at all

vasili, e-mail, 04.07.2007 17:29

To put it straight forward next to the most beutiful woman you can imagine the bell 222 comes very close she is truly a work of art

Raymond Wilkerson, e-mail, 26.06.2007 02:21

The bell 222 is the most handsomest helicopter that I have had the pleasure of watching. And AIRWOLF really made me appreciate it even more.Would be nice to see that show redone, and more up to date!

Eugene A Payne, e-mail, 08.06.2007 22:13

I liked this model-222 when i saw it on air-wolf T/V series.I would like to have some pictures of the-222 if
you would like to send them VIA e-mail. I could print them
and keep them.I think teh 222 would make a good assualt machine if the right equipment was on it.

Andrew, e-mail, 04.06.2007 17:39

The Bell 222 is one of the most endearing helicopters due to its role in Airwolf, an '80s television series starring the black helicopter, along with Jan Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine.

In this show, the 222B had fake jet thrusters with large air intakes, an aggressive nose prop, a black and white colour scheme, retractable guns on the side stubs and a pop-down missle launcher pod. It was all make believe but it was successful for a few seasons.

One interesting thing about the Bell 222 and its sisters - the 230 and 430 - is that it has a back / forth collective control mounted in front of the pilot with lateral throttle grips, unlike all other helicopters except the Bell 214ST, which also shares the same control.

Airwolf was given a new lease of life, being sold to a European air ambulance service after the television show finished and it tragically crashed during bad weather, which took the life of its crew and patient.

I am currently pursuing the possibility of forming a emergency helicopter air wing, for the City of Boston Fire dept. I am the only helicopter pilot on the Boston Fire dept, with 30 yrs of both military and civilian helicopter backgrounds. I would like to get your opinion on acquiring a Bell 222 for emergency operations. Its configuration capabilities based on mission at hand, to include its operating costs, and technical support to operate an elite air support wing. If you could please reply with all necessary information in regard to fire dept operations and capabilities, it would help me out tremendously, to introduce your helicopter as the aircraft of choice to my administrative heads. Thank you for your help in any way , I look forward to incorporating the Bell family into the Boston Fire dept Respectfully submitted, Paul S. Luciano Boston Fire Dept.
