Fantastic! I've been into this tip jet tech for over a year with the idea that this might be a way to design a low cost, safe, kit ultra light helicopter, that could be sold through Amazon for less then twenty grand. Thanks for this post! Check out the Monte Copter for a similar history.

This aircraft was transferred to my father in the late 50' or early 60's. It was gradually disassembled over the years as he moved with various parts becoming part of a mock up he was doing for a light sport aircraft. After his death the mock up was scrapped. I now have the N number on the section of the right side aluminum as shown above.

My Grandfather, Willis Cole Jr. worked for McDonnell. Somehow he acquired most of Big Henry when the project was cancelled. There are pictures of it sitting in the family driveway. Up until a few years ago, the landing gear, instrument panel and a piece of the fuselage (with the N12M number) were still floating around his garage. Willis Cole Jr. passed away 3-16-2012.
