Hi Dale - I remember all the experience I gained working with Webb and all of you. Webb gave me an immeasureable apprenticeship there and exposed me to so ,any things that helped me throughout my career. I am forever grateful to him for giving me the opportunity. I retired after 45 years in the industry working at Schweizer Aircraft who was manufacturing the Hughes 269C of all things. Talk about full cirtcle!

Daniel Goetz, e-mail, 04.08.2020 21:24

Dear Mr. Scheutzow,
My name is Daniel Goetz, my uncle, Alfred Goetz was cousin to Webb Scheutzow. There were 3 Goetz brothers, all passed. My father was Walter. Alfred had shares in the helicopter corp but I believe he said they were worthless at the time of his death. Maybe you can help me...I came across a photo in my father's collection. I believe it may be of the Scheutzow brothers from 1974. Please advise if you can identify anyone. I tried attaching the picture...no luck. If you could send me your Email address at dgoetz47@icloud.com I will send the picture.
Best regards, Dan Goetz

My husband, Robert Dee Gabriel, was a test pilot for Scheutzow Helicopter in 1971. I'm sure he would have some stories to tell. He passed away in 2000. I was happy to share the clip with my children and grandchildren of him as test pilot.

Does this company exists or bought by someone? I have stock in the company. Please help.

Dale Coad, e-mail, 07.08.2014 06:58

I also worked on ground testing on various units for the certification requirements. I'm looking for other people who worked there in Columbia Station.

Shirley Heiser, e-mail, 16.04.2014 05:40

I would appreciate any information regarding the possibility of the stock having any value. I have 20 shares purchased in 1965. Can someone email me if they get any answers on this? Thank you.

Ted Hamilton, e-mail, 10.02.2014 19:58

Any of you have pics of the rotorhead? I'd like to do something similar for an ultralight heli and am curious how the controls operated....Thanks ~Ted

oliver w. luck Ed,D, e-mail, 22.08.2012 03:46

I am also an owner of Scheutzow stock. The last information I received was that the Hunt Bros. had purchased the stock, and the comp. had moved to Texas.I was given the name of there representative. I was told by him that there was going to be meeting, but I never heard any more about the meeting.

Doug Dunlop, e-mail, 05.11.2011 01:03

I did some test flying for Webb also at Columbia Station
before it was certified. I was with Toronto Helicopters at the time and we were hoping to get a dealership for Canada. Even took him for a flight which he wasn't suppose to do.
Bunker Hunt also at one time. N5182 was one I flew.
I have a few photos.

Joe Schmitt, e-mail, 22.09.2011 06:50

Sean-o, e-mail, 28.05.2010 17:17

THANKS RYAN! Had a blast watching that 'ol girl dance. Loved the rotor-head design - like the modern mosquito! So....where are any examples nowadays?

I only googled Scheutzow Helicopter because I was talking with a vietnam vet and asked if he heard of it. He did not. I said I was working at a law firm (Isham, Lincoln (as in Todd) and Beale in Chicago as a secretary at the time and there was some flurry around the office and I kept hearing Scheutzow Helicopter mentioned. Wondered if it had something to do with the war. It would have been around 1965 I would think. I'm sure the law firm has long ago been disbanded. Now that I saw a comment about Chicago and stock, perhaps that was it. The firm would have probably handled some stock transaction. Must have been a big deal then 'cuz lawyers in the firm were all abuzz.

Trudy Nelson, e-mail, 24.04.2010 19:19

Am holding 20 shares of stock in Scheutzow Helicoptor Corp., from April 11, 1970, and wonder if they are of any value at this time. Please advise...Have been trying to contact the company for over a year, and always have my mail returned as undeliverable...

Don Bailey-CW4-USA (Ret), e-mail, 16.04.2010 10:54

I was the FIRST test pilot of the Scheutzow B helicopter-early 1963 at the Strongsville, OH, airport.
The initisal test flight made the BEREA NEWS front page [photo and article]on Thusrday, April 25,1963.BYLINE-Jim Byrne.(My passenger)
I have the newspaper article/photo and several other b/w photos taken by Richard Russell-CW3 USA (Ret) on file. Russell, also made an 8mm movie of my first translational flight along the East/West runway at Strongsville airport. The 8mm film was passed along to Webb Scheutzow (inventor) and has been unable to be located, to this day.I also had stock in the Scheutzow company. My last telephonic communication from Webb Scheutzow was late '60s. I think he told me that his company had been purchased by the Hunt Bros. and had been moved to Dallas,TX. I was on a special helicopter test pilot assignment (Hiller-JOH-23L) with the US Army (Corps of Engineers) in the SW. U.S. at that time. This info can be confirmed by Rich Russell(eye witness), who currently resides in Novelty,OH. He can be reached by e-mail at richrusel@aol.com .

I, too, own some stock shares, but I don't own a wall small enough to cover with them. Most days back in the sixties, I car-pooled with two other General Electric employees to the Evendale, OH Jet Engine plant. One rider
named Vic, and engineer-type, was very enthusiatic about
the B and talked me into investing in it. We also talked
about other STO&L craft (Autogyros) and/or anything else that might make our commute from our Cincinnati homes in
Westwood more pleasant and less time consuming.

THOMAS A. BECK, e-mail, 29.12.2009 18:55

Hi, Just a question. Is there any value in the Scheutzow helicopter corp. stock? Thank You Tom Beck.

Bill Sweet, e-mail, 21.08.2009 01:59

Any interest in an internet reunion? Perhaps, the online chat could be prefaced by statements from Jan Scheutzow and Elmer Scheutzow addressing the question, "What happened?"

Gerry Scheutzow Witters, e-mail, 18.07.2009 20:32

What happened?I and my siblings all have stock.

I also know this heicopter was Type Certified in Chicago Region and is listed in the FAA website regulatory guidance library. I worked at the company from 1967 sweeping floors, to designer in 1968 and rotor blade bond development into the 70's. Web gave me a wonder wealth of experiences and was truly an innovative spirit. I am glad I was able to thank him for all the mentorship he provided me as a young engineer.

Paul Scheutzow, e-mail, 06.09.2008 05:47

As his son, I can assure that the Bee was indeed Type Certified, and as far we know, was the only private individual in the US up to 1976 to type certify his own helicopter.

Gardner David, e-mail, 18.04.2008 12:08

I also worked on this helicopter in the early 1970's. I left before it was TC'd but I am aware it did gain a TC. I have been an FAA licensed Airframe & Powerplant mechanic since 1964. We also had an employee named Julius Finley who was an A/C welder.

Jeff Fox, e-mail, 09.08.2007 18:41

This helicopter was certified. The TCDS is H1GL, date may 4, 1976. I worked on the project from 1969 to certification in 1976
