From February 1948 had under development a flying automobile designed by M. B.Taylor. Prototype completed October 1949. Aerocar Model I, with Lycoming 0-320 engine, used for tests which led to FAA Airworthiness Certification of the Aerocar on December 13,1956. Extensive development undertaken to enhance flight and road performance. Accumulated road travel on sixAerocars exceeded 200,000 miles (321,865 km) and more than 5,000 flying hours. Other light aircraft made, including Coot and Sooper- Coot amphibians.
