Similar to but not the same as the Fiesler Storch, the Kokusai Ki-76 featured Fowler flaps in place of the slotted flaps on the German machine. Some 937 were produced and proved successful when measured against the Fi156. Finally retired in 1945 from IJA service some were used after the war by the Royal Thai Air Force. In addition to the armament noted they were equipped with 2 x 60 lb depth charges when flying from the escort carrier "Akitsu Maru".
