Based at Lytham St Annes, near Preston, Lanes., where late in First World War Felixstowe F.3 twin-engined flying-boats were built to Government contract. Fairey subcontracted the first of three N.4 four-engined flying-boats to the company. Dick Kerr built the superstructure, though the hull was made by May, Harden & May Ltd. and transported by road in 1919. In 1921 the flying-boat was dismantled and taken by road to the Isle of Grain, where it first flew July 4,1923.
