Following the success of the Klemm Kl-107-derived Bo 207, Messerschmitt-Bolkow launched a new two-seat touring/training light aircraft to complement the single-seat Bo 208 Junior, and this was later named the Monsun (designated Bo 209). The Monsun has a 'side by side' seat configuration, a tricycle undercarriage, folding wings for easy storage and the nose wheel is retractable in later versions. About 100 of the type were produced (and more than 270 orders were in place) until 1972, when production of this light aircraft ended.

roy, bolkow(@)eircom.net, 06.01.2008 In general the B209 is an excellent aircraft, does anyone have experience or know of a problem with noise thumping from the retractable nose gear one on uneven surfaces and or grass airstrips? webpa, webpa(@)aol.com, 14.06.2007 Sorry, but wasn't MBB the organisation that built the PA-200 Tornado?
