Designed as a military aircraft, but thousands of the civilian versions are in service as ambulances and in police, traffic reporting, and news-gathering roles. Ordered by the military in 1968 after considerable delays and price-overruns by the original competition winner, the Hughes OH-6. The LongRanger is the current production model.
